Yesterday, Thursday, May 1, 2014, the Thomas Walker baseball team came to Burton for their second game against the Raiders. If you recall, the Raiders absolutely crushed them with a final score of 17-2 in their first game. In last night's game, Burton did not let up and still ended the game victorious over Thomas Walker with a score of 8-5.
There was not much excitement for this game most likely due to how badly the Raiders beat Thomas Walker the last time they played them. This lack of excitement probably influenced the low turn out even though the game was played on a fair, windy day.
The game began shakily for the Raiders, as three bad calls in a single inning put Thomas Walker up
4-1. However, the Raiders kept their heads in the game and started putting runs on the board, putting them up 8-4 at the end of the sixth inning. In the final inning, the Raiders shifted their focus and worked to get the outs needed to close the inning and win the game. The final out of the game was a fly ball caught by the left fielder, giving the Raiders the 8-5 win.
