Another award for Burton's Kacie C.

Kacie C., a sophomore volleyball player, was honored with the sports leadership award by the Coalfield Progress, on September 29, which is in recognition of outstanding leadership and is based on statistics and achievements.  Kacie plays volleyball, basketball and runs track, which is why she was considered an overall leader.

Kacie mentioned how she did not expect this award, but she was working hard to receive accomplishments such as this one. Even at the young age of 15, Kacie looks forward to be recognized for her achievements, and hopes she will continue to receive awards for her dedication to sports.  She also recently received an award for All Tournament Team at the Patrick Henry tournament.

When asked what advice she would give to someone trying to receive this award, she answered by stating that setting self goals is very important. She believes it helps a person to push themselves harder and really think about how they play. Kacie also pointed out that aggression is very important in volleyball.  Kacie averages roughly around 8 or 9 kills a game and is definitely a major threat for anyone on the opposing side of the court.

Kacie and the rest of the Lady Raiders will be back in action on Tuesday, October 6, at Eastside. Come out and support the team!
