Festival to kick off fall

Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, and on the Crooked Road (Virginia's Heritage Music Trail), is the ideal place to be during the second weekend of each October. This year is the 36th annual Fall Fling - held annually to celebrate the beginning of autumn. This exciting festival will be held on October 11-12 in downtown Wise.

The Fall Fling will be a great way to kick off autumn, as crisp clean air and an array of beautiful fall colors can be viewed on the way to the festival. The festival features over 150 vendors selling crafts, food, jewelry, and more. In addition, live traditional music ranging from banjos to bagpipes will be played at Big Glades Square on Main Street.

The Fall Fling also features essay, photo and art contests; a chili cook-off; 
a 5K race; and an astonishing play area for kids that includes a variety of inflatable rides and games. This extraordinary festival is fun for all ages. Come out to the Fall Fling to experience the friendly southern atmosphere, traditional music, and unique variety of arts and crafts.
