Junior varsity baseball: Burton vs. Union

On Tuesday, May 6, 2014, the eighth grade Raider baseball team traveled to Union for a baseball game. The outcome of the game was a blowout; the Raiders beat the Bears 16-5. On Thursday, May 8, 2014 the Bears traveled to Burton. The outcome of the game was 11-4, with the Bears taking home the win.

The game at Union really showed some of the potential that the eighth grade team has if they keep their heads in the game. They were losing 5-3, at the end of the fourth inning, but by the bottom of the fifth they were winning 16-5, scoring 13 runs in a single inning.

The game at Burton was really close for the majority of the game. The Bears had an early lead, giving them the edge from the very beginning. The Raider did manage to keep the score 5-4 for a couple innings throughout the game, keeping hope alive for the Raiders, but ultimately the Bears managed to score a total of six more runs, giving them a big lead over Burton. The JV baseball teams for both the Raiders and the Bears are  very close in skill level.  In my opinion, I think the Bears won really due to the fact that they were humiliated on their home field, and they revved up for revenge. The Raiders just did not keep up their morale, and when they started falling behind they really just gave up.
