Five things to do in Southwest Virginia to get out of the house

In the winter months, SWVA can be a little boring. If you are feeling the effects of cabin fever here are five things to do in Wise County to keep you occupied.

1. Take a hike.

Wise County is full of wildlife, trails, and scenery. Take your pick and take a hike!

2. Check out the local music scene.

The Country Cabin II located in Josephine is a cool place to go check out some music from the area. It's family friendly and the food is great. You can also take some line dancing lessons or get up and square dance.

3. Sing karaoke at Mi Finca.

Karaoke is every Saturday night at MiFinca. Get up on the floor with your friends and have a good time or enjoy those who come to showcase their talent while eating some of the best food in town.

4. Shop at local thrift stores.

Check out the Goodwill (locations in Big Stone and Wise) or the Red Barn (located in Norton). Bring your friends and try on some cool new outfits or have a good laugh with hats and suits.

5. Take a drive down some back roads.

Take a drive back in the mountains with some friends and a good CD or playlist. Stop and take in the scenery our area has to offer. This is also a cool way to spend time with family.
