Eighth grade plundered and varsity dominated

On Friday, March 21, 2014, Burton clashed with Lee High in both junior varsity and varsity. The games both ended with one team winning by 10 points. Eighth grade players were smashed with a loss of 13-2 and varsity triumphed with a 16-5 victory.

The eighth grade team made many mistakes throughout the game that ultimately costed them the win. Their pitching suffered; they only using two pitchers the entire game, even after it was clear that the pitchers were completely burnt out. The team's batting and fielding was also insufficient. The team had many errors in the field and strikeouts at the plate, and quickly became clear that need a lot more work. Overall they have the potential to better themselves, but they need more practice time.

The varsity team, however, dominated the field. The team has talent and determination which lead them in their endeavors on the field.  I believe this positive attitude will drive them far in their season. I personally look forward to following the team as the season progresses and watching them improve beyond where they are already at.
