Earlier this week Burton's junior varsity baseball team clashed with Eastside. The outcome of the game was very unfortunate for Burton. With a score of 10-0, Eastside took the victory. Although the outcome was not the most favorable, Burton does have time to improve as this was their first game of the season. I personally look forward to see how the rest of their season progresses.
From what I can tell from the game, the team needs more experience. The team as a whole, needs to work on their batting, as it was what most likely cost them the game. On three separate occasions Burton had the bases loaded and choked, showing that the team needs more game experience to better handle pressure. The team as a whole had six errors in the field, which shows that the team also needs to work on their fielding.
The Burton junior varsity team certainly does have a high expectation to stand up to, as last year's junior varsity team was undefeated. This is almost an entirely different team, so these cannot be the expectations set forth for this year. The junior varsity does have potential to become better, as I believe they will. I wish luck to the junior varsity in their future endeavors and hope to see them excel.
