Just about every single student at John I. Burton, has at one time or another, experienced the foul taste of school lunch in their mouths. Now do not take this the wrong way, every once in a blue moon the lunch is not so bad; however, the vast majority of the time, the lunch is outright disgusting. Often times the milk is almost completely frozen. The food can be soggy, as is the case with a lot of the sandwiches that they serve, or the food can be straight up inedible.
One example of a lunch food that just about everybody hates is the sweet potato fries, tots, and weird waffle-like shapes that the cafeteria seems to serve just about everyday. I know I'm not alone in thinking that they are the foulest food to ever come through that lunch room. They are still served even though the cafeteria must realize that nobody likes them. There are some exceptions to this rule and some kids do enjoy the sweet potatoes, although a lot of the people I know, myself included, despise the food with a passion.
Many people at this school would also agree that whatever is served, is served in portions that are too small for most people to feel satisfied after eating. On the rare occasion that the cafeteria finally serves something that a lot of people enjoy, the portion that is served is so small for most students to feel satisfied after eating. The cafeteria does serve extras, but for the price you have to pay for just the entree, you could almost buy another whole meal.
There are so many questions that come to mind when considering school lunch. Who is responsible for this atrocity? What can we, as students, do to change this and better our school lunch? The most important question of all is: Does school lunch have to be so disgusting? Stay tuned for these answers and more as I uncloak the truth behind the foulest food.
